Grip socks aren’t for anyone. For people who want high performance but don’t want to spend high amounts of money on 1 pair of socks, the solution is simple. Get athletic everyday socks. These socks don’t have the same level of performance as grip socks, but are much more budget friendly and still are pretty good for playing sports. Today we’re reviewing the Nike Everyday Plus Cushioned Socks which are my choice for everyday socks. We will review them in grip for sports, comfort/fit, and durability.
THE GRIP
In terms of grip, the Nike Everyday Plus socks are fairly good considering they don’t have any sorts of grip elements on the forefoot. While I did feel some slide in my shoes while wearing these, especially with big shoes, the socks are thick enough that it is not that big of a deal.
The Nike Everyday Plus’s were excellent in an everyday manner. I have worn them for nearly a year and they still feel great on feet. They are really popular for everyday use, with a lot of people using them daily, and for good reason, as they are an amazing choice for everyday use. I would recommend getting new ones every six months though because the thickness of the socks has worn down a bit.
On the other hand, I would advise you to purchase grip socks for playing sports rather than playing in these. While these are good enough to get the job done, they left me sometimes prone to blisters because they tended to sometimes heat up due to the immense thickness of the socks. Grip socks are designed for sports, so they tend to have better ventilation and heating issues than everyday socks. Contrary to my last statement, if you have no other socks to wear, these would work perfectly fine.
In the Make the Cut test, where we go through performance tests to determine how good a sock is, the Nike Everyday Plus performed exactly how I expected them to: good performance but not in the same category as grip socks.
In the first test, we sprinted 20 times and stopped on a dime to see how the sock would feel. The sock had slippage on 5 of these reps, which equates to 25%. This is an okay number just not in the caliber of grip socks.
In the second test, where we jumped side to side 50 times, simulating the processes of changing directions and agility, the Nike Everyday Plus slipped 6 times, which is 12%. I thought the socks were great in keeping the foot feeling agile and fast, but the sock did feel a little hot.
In the third and final test, which consists of 100 one-touch passes against a wall, the socks performed well. They slipped 6% of the time, which is pretty good. I felt like they were barely even there and I would definitely recommend using these socks for soccer.
COMFORT/FIT
In everyday socks, the main thing I look for, and you should too, is comfort. The Nike Everyday Plus socks deliver just that. The knit construction is super soft and feels excellent on foot, although it can feel pretty thick and have too much material.
The fit is highly customizable, as there are many different lengths to pick from. I recommend purchasing the ankle or crew lengths because they are the most versatile. The compression isn’t great but it doesn’t really matter because this is an everyday sock, rather than performance or grip sock.
This doesn’t really apply to comfort or fit, but if you like cool looking items, this has a great, simplistic design and is probably the most popular and most worn sock that I have seen.
DURABILITY
Nike Everyday Plus socks have great durability, lasting me for nearly a year. These socks are so thick that it basically prevents any holes or tears from forming. Although the material has worn down and isn’t as comfortable, I was still impressed with the lifetime of these socks.
After many months of wearing the socks, the fit wasn’t as great and tended to heat up faster than before, which is too expected. It’s not anything significant, but it still didn’t feel the best while wearing the sock. That being said, the durability for the Nike Everyday Plus socks are great.
EXCELLENT EVERYDAY SOCK
The Nike Everyday Plus sock is one of the best everyday socks on the market, if not the best. This is my choice for an everyday sock and has great durability so you can wear it for a long time. With customizable length, it has the perfect fit for anyone, and it is one of the highest quality socks on the market.
