Premier League 22-23 Home Kit Ranking

With the Premier League season already underway, I decided to review the home kits of each team. If you want to purchase the kit, go to the official team shop. All of these images used were taken from premierleague.com. With that being said, let’s get into it.

20. Wolverhampton Wanderers

The effort from Wolves this year is very poor. It’s a simple white jersey with black highlights. The yellow color never looks appealing, and that trend continues. There’s no graphic or design, and this kit is boring, ugly, and lacking creativity.

19. Brighton and Hove Albion

It’s a creative design. The yellow trim works nicely, but overall, I just don’t like the kit. I find the design to be lacking inspiration, and the design looks pretty basic to me. It’s a break from the normal thin white and blue stripes, but it’s still not good.

18. Leicester City

I love Leicester City’s kits. Royal blue, gold, and white. What is there not to love? Last year’s kit was stunning, a perfect combo of those colors. But this year, the kit looks great, apart from one small thing. Adidas’ horrifying template collar. It is so bad, it bumps Leicester’s kit from where it should be in the top ten to 18th.

17. AFC Bournemouth

This is an interesting one. I love the modern spin on the red and black stripes, but it almost takes away from the club identity, in my opinion. The yellow Dafabet logo is horrid, especially compared to the colors of the jersey.

16. Newcastle

This is essentially the same kit as last year and the year before that and the year before that. It’s very plain, but the design on the black stripes makes the kit nice, but it would be so cool if Castore made a white floral design on the black to make the kit unique. As always, the Fun88 sponsor is anything but. Disappointing.

15. Everton

This is a pretty plain blue jersey, which is what we have come to expect from the Toffees in recent years. The front sponsor is way too big, and the design on the front is much too faint to notice, except in close ups. Everton’s jerseys have so much potential because of  the colors of the club, but again, they haven’t lived up to the bill.

14. Southampton

This honestly looks like an Ajax kit. While I applaud Southampton for trying to remix their classic home kit, this looks so weird. It would have looked so much better if the red and white were swapped, but this just looks improvised. The graphics on the side of the jersey are very modern and provide this kit with some nice detailing, otherwise, it would have been ranked lower.

13. Aston Villa

One of the most underrated brands in kit design, Castore have produced a clean kit for Villa this year. I really like the V graphics but I wish they were more prominent in the jersey. This is still an excellent kit to pick up though.

12. Fulham

This kit could be so, so good. I love the color scheme of this kit, with the red and balck highlights, but it is just a template, with no unique patterns or designs. Because of that and the abnormally large sponsor, this kit falls to 12.

11. Nottingham Forest

When I first looked at this kit, the first thing I thought of was how plain it is. But after further examination, I loved the red design on the sleeves. I just wish there was a sponsor logo to really make the sleeves pop.

10. Liverpool

Again, this kit is pretty plain, but the way the white logos pop off the red jersey really works. I appreciate the red color this year, as it makes the whole kit look regal in a way. I think last year’s kit was a lot better, but this kit is still okay.

9. Brentford

I know, this is the same kit as last year, but it is still as striking as it was when it was first released. Brentford decided to keep the home kit the same to save fans money and help the environment. You can’t not like that, and I applaud the efforts of the Bees, so I ranked their kit at No. 9.

8. Tottenham Hotspur

Spurs shirts are normally extremely boring but this year that changes. Tottenham decided to add volt as one of their new colors, which is strange albeit good looking. The kit combines nicely with the highlights, but I hate how every year AIA’s logo is always red.

7. Leeds United

Again, I’m normally not a huge fan of white kits, but this Leeds shirt just hits different. The neon yellow and blue trim combines well with the white base, and the sponsor thankfully changed its collar to match the rest of the kit, which is always a great sign. This shirt will go down as a classic.

6. West Ham

This is West Ham’s best home shirt in a while. Putting a modern spin on a rather stale design, this kit combines blue graphics with the signature maroon of the Clarets. I like this kit, but it is just a good kit, not amazing. (Burnley’s home kit, with the same color scheme is a lot better check it out here)

5. Chelsea

The Blues’ new kit looks plain at first glance, but if you take a deeper look at it, the collar is the highlight of the shirt. Inspired by manager Ted Drake’s changes to the club crest, the collar pops out with shades of white and light blue and it looks magnificent. To top it off, there’s a one button collar that combines with the rest of the jersey which looks great.

4. Manchester City

On the opposite side of Manchester, the Cityzens have released a stunning new home shirt that pays homage to Colin Bell and the home kit of old. This is a unique jersey, with a color combination we don’t see very often and it looks stunning.

3. Crystal Palace

Although this looks like it was drawn by a 5 year old with crayons, this is a unique design that takes a modern spin on Palace’s signature colors. The white collar really pops off the shirt, and the blending of the blues is an excellent choice. The only bad thing about this kit is that we won’t get to see Conor Gallgher in it.

2. Arsenal

This is extremely similar to United’s home shirt, but Arsenal’s is just a smidge worse in my mind. I love the lightning bolt design on the collar and it plays really well into the traditional Arsenal colors. The Gunners will look great this year playing in this kit, and there will probably be many goals scored in this.

1. Manchester United

In the last couple of years, we haven’t seen Man United at the top of anything, but this is the year that changes things , as the Red Devils have released a stunning new kit. The collar is synonymous with United’s history, and works so well with the thin red pinstripes of the kit. I normally don’t like collars but this one works so, so well.
